It's been a white---- :)

So it has been a while since I've posted! Things have been EXTREMELY busy between moving and Miss Domino starting school- I decided to expand by buying SweetPeas and SugarPlums. I will be starting a new company blog that involves BOTH brands! I'll post a link when it is up and running! :)

My New Obsession- Extreme Couponing!

Extreme Couponing!

Last week I was watching t.v.- crocheting of course. How awesome is it that I can sit in front of the t.v. and work? Move over Nick Jr. mommy is back! Anyway- Extreme Couponing came on. While I had heard a bit about this new fad, I figured there was a HUGE catch to it.

This lady- I kid you not- bought a years worth of tomatoes, a years worth of deodorant and taco seasoning and a TON of other very useful things that added up to $375. She paid $1.25. I'm sold!

I have been reading up on it a bit and the ladies say to start small. Choose a section of your "to buy" list and start looking for sales at the local stores that take coupons. When the sale comes up and you have a coupon for it- buy it.

These ladies kind of hoard coupons... they will buy multiple newspapers and ask their neighbors for coupons.

While I don't plan on all that- I am looking forward to saving some money. I am putting together my first coupon binder- photos will be posted soon!

If you would like some tips and ideas for starting out- I found these links helpful!

Miss Domino is off to Pre-K!

First Day of Pre-K!
First day of Pre-K!

Like many moms- this week starts my daughters first day of school.  Was I prepared? No- I actually refused to remember which day she was going, like some kind of crazy mom mental block.... like when she turned 3 years old and I kept saying she was 2. Or when she turned 4 and I STILL said she was 2.

The last two weeks I have kept myself insanely busy trying to keep my mind off of this HUGE day. Sewing, cleaning, cooking, crocheting, well maybe I wasn't that busy, but I have a mom mental block.

One of the things I was busy doing was crafting this adorable nap mat. The school had specifications of the store/type/brand that they wanted the nap mat to be like. I looked up the cost and thought "There is no way I'm paying $35 for a nap mat." Pinterest here I come! I looked up a tutorial and found one by one of my favorite bloggers- Prudent Baby

I looked and figured I had most of the materials in my sewing room and didn't think about it again. Wrong! I didn't have ANY of the materials- so the day before school started I had to make three runs to the fabric store to get supplies.
Walking in- Nap mat in hand!

Here is the original tutorial- but I made some changes. I don't do binding- ever- so I surged the fleece blanket and then sewed the large piece right side together with an opening. I turned them inside out and stuffed it with some pillow filler. Every 8-10 inches I sewed a line to keep the filler in it's area and then stuffed some more. I love it, and it's big enough for me.

The best part about this huge project- I spent more money than intended, stayed up all night working on it, made multiple trips to the craft store.. and then.... duh duh duhhhh.... found out that Domino won't be at school long enough for nap time. Apparently she is there for lunch though, which we didn't pack for her on her first day.

The nap mat is now at home- and she carries it everywhere! It is great for cozy time at night or movie time- she likes to "waller" us a whole lot and it's nice that she now has her own personal space.

Facebook Auctions and New Items

Facebook Auctions and New Items!

I know it has been a while since I've had an update on the shop- so here it is!

Facebook Auctions

Since my Facebook family has grown so much over the past year, I have decided to start hosting auctions for my fans! The auctions are though our photo albums and items are discounted up to 75%. We have bows that start at $1.00 and hats that start at $10.00. There is anywhere from 5 items to 30 items and I try to host at least one a month.
To bid you read the rules and "like" them first.

Wait until the auction is OPEN (the first photo will eather say OPEN or CLOSED.)

Then you place your bids as the comments under the photo of the item you want.

Bids go up in small $0.50 increments.

I have the option of shipping or pick up.

Invoices will be shipped out when auction ends and need to be paid within 12 hours of auction ending.

Items shipped out within 24 hours of payment (unless otherwise noted.)

And that's it- you get to wait on your newly crafted bows to arrive!!
Our current Facebook auction will be this weekend-

Our New Shipping!

We have also started shipping in clear tubes- to help keep those little bows from being smashed! Almost all of our orders now are shipped in different sized tubes, even our tutus! It has helped cut the cost of shipping so much that I now offer free shipping on our bows bought though my Etsy shop!

Our New Studio-

While I posted a while back about what a disaster it was to move, I never quite got around to letting everyone know how it turned out. Well, I expanded to the rest of the upstairs. Painting, hanging shelves and setting up a shipping area is underway. Now that ReiLynn Designs is my full time business I am creating a place for customers to come and shop in the studio as well.

Here are also a few new items ready to ship in our Etsy Shop
